In Asylum Sam shot Dean in the chest with rock salt, before pointing what he thought was a loaded gun at his brother's chest and firing not once but four times! Next episode it was like the incident had never happened and you can guarantee that by the end of the 1st season it won't be mentioned again. So thank god for fic - Cracked is a harsh, unflinching look at Dean's state of mind after the shooting incident and his unwillingness to just instantly forgive his brother.
